Crosslayer and Multinode Cooperation in Wireless Communications

Joint Sino-Swedish IMT Advanced Project

In this project, we shall investigate efficient strategies for multi-node cooperation in wireless communication and related cross-layer design issues. Current research in this area mostly concentrates on the simplest two/three-node scenario. In more practical wireless networks, there are normally multiple nodes (multiple transmitters, receivers and, potentially, relays/routers). Also, efficient information processing in partner nodes and/or base-stations has largely not been studied yet, especially for multi-node multi-hop networks.

Our design objectives are related to the network capacity, energy-efficiency, error-probability, delay, and high-coverage of multiple-node multiple-hop cooperative networks. The research scope will involve interdisciplinary topics in modulation and coding, multiple-access techniques, and cooperative networking.

The project officially starts from September 2008.
